HistoryChurch on 99 is a non-denominational church that was planted in Squamish, British Columbia, in 1999 by Steve & Marilyne Chapman. Soon afterward Clayton & Bridie Cawdell joined them and have been serving the church with them ever since. A few years later Robert & Charito Gultiano joined us as well. Steve was ordained to the ministry in 2001 and set in as an Elder - two years after the church's inception. Clayton & Robert were both set in as Elders in 2009. John Groot joined the Elder team in 2011 . Many others have served and labored in the church and are still with us, some dating back to the earliest of days.
By God's grace we managed to purchase property and build a building adjacent the main highway that passes through our community. This highway is called Highway 99 - hence the church name, "Church on 99."
As the church and its leadership have matured, it has also changed. And as the church continues to grow, we anticipate more change in the future. After all, anything living is growing, and anything growing is changing.
For the past two years we have committed to and practiced expository preaching. This has proven to be a very positive decision for the spiritual growth and strength of the church.
We promote mid-week gatherings, which we call "Community Groups." (The old fashion term for these would be "Bible Studies.")
Our music is lively and contemporary, yet we like to sing some of the ancient Hymns.
We believe that investing spiritually into the lives of our children is of utmost importance. For this reason we take our Sunday school and its curriculum seriously.
We also involve ourselves in missions, both local and abroad.
Preaching salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, is our greatest commitment.
Fully aware that our Lord Jesus Christ is the Chief Shepherd of the Sheep, we continue to look to Him for all our guidance. |
